The amount of shit that the language can say the educated, highly cultured even when they are not linguists, it's really huge. Sometimes I find this annoying, sometimes it makes me laugh, always makes me feel very smart (wrongly, of course: anyone who would deign to read a handbook of language, including elementary, of course wanting to understand, this feeling).
